German Campus publishes practical guides for international students, job seekers and expats in Germany. This page explains how we research, write, update and correct our content, and how we keep advertising separate from editorial decisions.
Who writes our guides
Our articles are written and edited by the German Campus team, led by founder Kumar Ashish, who has lived and studied in Germany for around ten years and has worked for years on the interests of international students. Author names are shown on every article.
How we research
We base our guides on primary and official sources wherever possible, including:
- German missions abroad and the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt)
- the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and local foreigners’ authorities (Ausländerbehörden)
- universities, uni-assist, APS offices, DAAD and official language test providers
- statutory health insurers, banks and other providers for practical topics such as blocked accounts and insurance
Where rules differ between federal states, consulates or universities, we say so and point readers to the responsible office.
Updates and accuracy
Visa rules, fees and procedures in Germany change frequently. We review articles when official rules change and show the date of the last update on each article. Even so, information can become outdated between reviews, so please always confirm requirements with the official source before you act.
Corrections
If you spot an error or outdated information, please tell us via our contact page. We check every report and correct confirmed mistakes promptly.
Independence and neutrality
German Campus is independent and politically neutral. We are not affiliated with any government body, university or embassy, and our content does not represent the official position of any institution.
Advertising and editorial separation
German Campus is funded by advertising, including Google AdSense. Ads are clearly labelled as “Advertisement” and are kept separate from our editorial content. Advertisers have no influence on what we write, which topics we cover or how we assess providers. Any sponsored content or affiliate links will be clearly marked.
No individual advice
Our guides provide general information only and are not legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. For your individual situation, please contact the responsible authority or a qualified professional. See our disclaimer for details.
